Peter is a consultant surgeon with special expertise in oncoplastic breast cancer surgery and a strong interest in thyroid surgery, laparoscopic (keyhole) gallbladder, inguinal and umbilical hernia surgery, melanoma and sentinel node procedures. He is committed to providing the best care possible for his patients.

After graduating from the prestigious University of Melbourne Medical School, Peter came to New Zealand for his surgical training. He then took up Fellowships in the UK at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and at the Edinburgh Breast Unit, which gave him practical experience in advanced international surgical techniques which are now his special area of interest.

He returned to New Zealand to take up his post as a specialist breast and general surgeon at Tauranga Public Hospital in 2006, and has been in private practice at Grace Hospital since 2007. He has a private practice at Promed House.

He trains surgeons in the latest techniques and advances in oncoplastic breast surgery, is passionate about teaching and is also an honorary clinical lecturer with the University of Auckland. He takes part in research that contributes to advances in surgery and keeps up to date by attending national and international conferences every year.

Peter is a regular speaker in conferences overseas, a contributor for the University of Sydney breast Masters course and regularly teaches in the BreastSurgANZ Oncoplastic workshops. He strives to refine surgical techniques that are efficacious and less invasive to give his patients the best outcome for them.

Outside his professional life, Peter enjoys biking, surfing, skiing, tennis and outdoor activities. He also enjoys spending time in his small kiwifruit orchard during the weekends and interacting with people within his local parish church.
