The Covid-19 era provided significant challenges to elective surgical services in hospitals across the UK. During this time, Daniel set up a dedicated service for Inguinal Hernia Repairs under Local Anaesthetic – developing a streamlined service that expedited hernia repair for many patients, while minimising the additional risk posed by general anaesthesia and potential Covid infection. Having recently returned to New Zealand again, Daniel now holds specialist consultant positions at Tauranga Public Hospital and Grace Hospital, and consults privately from the Tauranga Specialist Centre. His wide and thorough experience gained overseas enables accurate and comprehensive diagnoses and holistic care, with timely and appropriate management plans matched to each patient’s requirements. Daniel enjoys teaching surgical skills to junior doctors and trainee surgeons, with particular attention to operative technique. He also has a passion for global surgery and the provision of quality surgical care to people living in developing nations. He has spent time working in West Africa as a junior doctor and as a consultant, involved in the provision of surgical care as well as in education and training. Daniel, his wife, and their three children love living near the beach, enjoying cycling expeditions together and exploring the superb walks throughout the Bay.
