Sunny manages and provides care for patients with both suspected and established gastro-intestinal disorders. He brings the benefit of his extensive training and experience in Ireland and Australia, and specialises in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Sunny is delighted to be part of the Grace Hospital endoscopy team.

Having grown up in Malaysia, Sunny went on to study Medicine at Trinity College, Dublin. He graduated from Trinity in 2002, and continued to work and study in Ireland. He was awarded his MD by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2011 for his work in inflammatory bowel disease biology, and went on to complete his specialist gastroenterology training (CCST) in Ireland.

His studies in Ireland were followed by an advanced interventional Endoscopy/ERCP fellowship at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2014, he has worked as a consultant gastroenterologist at Tauranga Hospital.

Sunny has a private practice at Promed House, and since April 2015 has also been providing his endoscopy services at Grace Hospital. His interest in research includes IBD, interventional endoscopy and colorectal cancer. With his colleagues at the Clinical Trial Unit at Tauranga Hospital, he takes an active part in clinical trials in IBD, acting as a sub-investigator and principal investigator. Sunny has presented research at numerous international meetings, and is the author of a number of peer-reviewed publications.

Sunny, his wife and their puppy, Rufus, enjoy the sunshine and the outdoor lifestyle Tauranga offers, and are glad to call the Bay their home. In particular, Sunny is a keen runner and a boot camp fanatic.
