After 30 years of experience in plastic surgery, Michael retains his absolute passion for plastic surgery. He is immensely proud of its wonderful history and continuing evolution and, as an enthusiastic tutor and former examiner, passes on his specialised surgical skills to the next generation of plastic surgeons. After several years overseas gaining invaluable surgical experience in Europe, the UK, and Australia, he returned to New Zealand in 2010. Before this, he enjoyed ten years as a consultant plastic surgeon at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. Michael has a special interest and expertise now in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and breast. He also offers general plastic surgery, including hand and limb surgery. In recent years he has co-authored several books on reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Congruent Facelift and Simply Local Flaps are two current projects in press with Springer Medical Books. A third project is An Examiner's Guide to Professional Plastic Surgery Exams. Moulding of neonatal ear deformations, volume-enhancing fat grafting and intralesional cryotherapy for keloid scars are new innovative techniques he has focused on in recent years. For several years he has also been involved with an annual coaching course for senior trainees preparing for their final fellowship exams with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). The pass rate for candidates attending his course has been 80%. Michael runs six clinics between Auckland and Hamilton and operates at Grace Hospital in Tauranga. Michael enjoys music and, when he has time, he plays guitar in his band. Contact information:
