After completing Medical School in the Netherlands, Wouter worked at the University of Florida in the Ear Research Laboratories, which led to a PhD degree. He then returned to Europe for his clinical ENT training in Essen, Germany. During this time, he gained experience in the treatment of complex ear diseases. Subsequently, Wouter practiced for five years in the Netherlands before moving to New Zealand in 2003. In New Zealand he worked in the Manukau Super Clinic and part-time in the Auckland Otology (Ear) Group before moving to Tauranga in 2008. His private consulting room is at 14 Willow Street in Tauranga.
